ACM Entertainer of the Year

I have been scanning the boards and I can see that a lot of people are upset about last nights award show (me included). Regardless of who I think should have won (Kenny Chesney), I think we all have to look at the argument a different way. Lets look at it form the nomination stand point.

Why do I say that? I say that because, if we as fans say my artist should have won, the Academy can simply say vote for them next time. However, if we look at it from the nomination standpoint, then we can argue that the Academy is not stand by their own rules and standards. Below is the criteria for ETOTY.

Entertainer of the Year:

This award is for the act displaying the greatest competence in all aspects of the entertainment field. Voter should give consideration not only to recorded performance, but also to the in-person performance, staging, public acceptance, attitude, leadership, and overall contribution to the Country Music image. Award to artist.

Now after reading that, tell me if all those who were nominated for the award deserved to be.

Ok those are the criteria for the ACM Entertainer of the Year. So how did Carrie Underwood even get nominated? Don’t get me wrong I love Carrie Underwood, but Taylor Swift has shown greater growth, competence and all of the above. In fact she has really represented country music well to the younger country fans. Jamey Johnson, who writes music and has promoted other artists has shown growth, leadership and competency. Rascal Flatts (although there was some questions last year) have shown all of the above.
